Healing Back Pain — Dr. John Sarno
This book was integral in my back recovery. The lessons behind psychosomatic medicine opened up a whole new world that goes way beyond what western medicine has shown to me.

The Mindbody Prescription — Dr. John Sarno
I became enthralled and obsessed with Dr. Sarno’s work so naturally I read this one next. He went even deeper into the mind-body connection, and I felt connected to every page. Dr. Sarno’s work and legacy is nothing short of revolutionary, and I genuinely think everyone dealing with chronic pain should read this. Note: I found his lectures on YouTube as an excellent extension of this topic. Mind blowing!!!!

Quit Like a Woman — Holly Whitaker
Whitaker executed a beautiful transcription of her life transformation. Even without a ~super strong~ sobriety charge of my own, I was amazed at how perfectly this book captured what it means to be a woman in a patriarchal society. I finished it feeling empowered and inspired beyond belief.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck — Mark Manson
I did this one via audiobook as a way to shake off the day’s stresses on my traffic-filled drives home from work. Sometimes you just need someone to tell it to you straight. Mindset really is everything.

Flowers for Algernon — Daniel Keyes
Might be my favorite fictional book of all time. You fall in love with the way the author storytells via journal entries. My jaw was absolutely dropped in the end. I recommend this one to everyone.

The Song of Achilles — Madeline Miller
Read this one way before I decided to start this blog, but I remember being obsessed with the story. This was the book that got me back into reading. I found myself forcing my eyes open at night to get a few more pages in.

Circe — Madeline Miller
Very honestly, I got about 65% of the way but dropped off and never came back. I did truly enjoy it but maybe life got a little busy and lost my momentum.

Move: The New Science of Body Movement — Caroline Williams
Such a fascinating read about how movement affects everything. This read kickstarted my obsession with neuroscience and the conscious to subconscious, physical to intangible, systems of the universe. Typing that sentence was funny.
